Factorization Forest is a game in which students can practice their prime factorization skills. Students can choose to build a forest without a timer using their prime factorization skills, or, can play a game in which they try to populate a river valley with as many trees as possible in three minutes using their prime factorization skills.To play, choose the game type and select the type of tree you would like to grow. Then, turn your attention to the number that appears at the top of the screen. This will be the number you will “factorize”. Click the ” + ” button to begin building your factor tree. Continue clicking the ” + ” buttons that appear until your are left with only prime numbers. Then, count of the prime numbers to form your factorization. To type in your factorization, find the space toward the bottom of the screen in which you can enter a number and use the ” + ” to enter other numbers. Use the dotted lines positioned to the upper right of each number to specify exponents. When you are satisfied with your factorization, click the ” ? ” button. If you are correct, you will see your tree grow. If you are playing the create a forest version of the game, you can move your tree to any place on the picture. If you are playing the timed version, the tree will remain in a fixed position.
