This species, known as the AIRmadillo, has taken to flying paper airplanes in its chosen habitats. Today, you can play the role of the rarely seen AIRmadillo by using your math skills and quick reflexes to help him or her fly airplanes as far possible. Launch paper airplanes and watch them rocket through the sky by choosing the optimum arm release angle. Be careful though, wind speed, direction, airplane type, setting and arm power also play major factors in determining the distance your airplane will fly. You control it all.

Alpha Train

 
Background: You are the conductor of the alphabet train and it is your job to pick up the animals at their stops. Your train has12 cars the A, B, C, D, E, L, M, P, R, S, T, W cars. At each stop there are five or six animals that need to be directed to the correct car (because animals can’t read). For example, the eagle needs to be in the “e” car and the duck needs to be in the “d” car. There are six total stops and 40 total animals. Your job is to get as many animals in their correct cars as possible before you reach the train station. If you see an animal you don’t recognize, click on it and the answer will be revealed. You get four free answers per game!

Background: In this game, your knowledge of the the animal and plant kingdoms will be tested like its never been tested before. Unlike American Idol, you won’t have to sing, but you will have to answer questions about animals, plants, and biomes. Each round has a different theme and the questions are tough. To make it to the next round, simply score five correct answers and score at least 50 percent. For example, if you get five correct, but get eight incorrect, you will be eliminated, but if you get five correct and four incorrect, you will survive. After every round, you’ll endure criticism by the three judges, Randy Jackal, Paula Impala, and Simon Cow. Can you be the next Animal Idol?

Background: The object of Anti-Homework Elementary is to use your knowledge of angles and angle measures to make it through the week without having to take home any homework from homework-happy teachers. In the game, each day of the week is a different stage and each stage is a different classroom with homework-happy teachers positioned at various angles. Estimate the angle that the teacher with the flashing arrow is positioned at. Type the estimation in where it reads “angle and then press ‘enter.’ ” If your estimate is good, you will get to throw an anti-homework grenade, which will obliterate the stack of homework the teacher is intending to give you.

Background: Around the World is a fun multiplication game based on the timeless classic classroom game where students go “Around the World” if they can defeat their classmates in a game of multiplication flash cards. In the online versions, students face fictional student from other countries, thereby integrating the game well with geography. Students win if they can defeat all 20 students. The problem is, “students” from different countries answer the flash cards at different speeds. Some may take ten seconds, while others may take only 4 or 5 seconds. In this way, the game simulates the real game where some kids are quicker with their facts than others.

Background: Bedtime Bandits is a super fun game that reinforces various stages of time-telling skills. Students play the role of a boy or girl who aims to stay up as late as possible by shining a magic flashlight on the correct descending clock. Each round, ten clocks descend from the bedroom ceiling and students must eliminate them before they touch the ground by shining the flashlight on the clock that matches the analog prompt. For each clock eliminated, the bedtime increases by one minute. Each round becomes slightly harder than the last.

Buddy System

 

Background: Today is a special day. You are going on a field trip! Unfortunately, Mr. Nussbaum’s car broke down on the way to school, and he is unable to make it on time. Instead, a substitute teacher is taking the class. Before the class can leave, each students needs to be assigned a “buddy” to stay with at the field trip just to ensure no one gets lost.

Mr. Nussbaum’s buddy system, however, is more complicated than most! Students are assigned rational numbers and their “buddies” are those with equal proportions. Each student has only one buddy, but Mr. Nussbaum forgot to leave the answer key.

Now, it’s your job to MAKE SURE each student pairs with the correct buddy. Drag and drop the “buddies” with equal proportions together. If you can correctly pair all twelve students, you’ll get to print out images of all buddies happily ready for their field trip.
