Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan and one of the largest urban settings in the world and the second largest Muslim city in the world. Over 23,000,000 people live in or around Karachi. It is the cultural and economic hub of Pakistan as well as its largest port. The city accounts for over 60 percent of Pakistan's total revenue and serves as the headquarters for most of the nation's banks major corporations, and institutions of higher learning. Karachi was once the capital of Pakistan until it was decided to make Islamabad the capital for the purposes of spreading developent evenly throughout the nation.

Karachi is well known as the birthplace of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinad, the founder of Pakistan. A massive mausoleum was built in Karachi as a shrine to him.
