The Legend of the Breakfast for Lunch Sausage

 
Mr. Nussbaum arose, dusted off his pants, found his glasses, turned on his flashlight, and surveyed the space, which was much colder than the area he had fallen from. Bewildered and disoriented, Mr. Nussbaum scanned what appeared to be a subterranean amphitheater decorated with what must have been hundreds of thousands of slot-shaped notches carved into the cave organized neatly into columns drawn into the rock walls. Makeshift ladders, hundreds of feet tall, extended to the highest slots. The room was painted with faded murals that depicted what appeared to be important historical events touched with mysterious brown discs.
