Sydney Harbor, one of the world's most beautiful harbors, is actually part of Port Jackson, a large drowned river valley. Port Jackson contains three harbors, Sydney Harbor, North Harbor and South Harbor. It was originally discovered in 1770 by Captain James Cook. Sydney Harbor is most famous for the urban scenery that rises above it. Two of Australia's most recognizable landmarks, Sydney Opera House, and Sydney Harbor Bridge are both located directly on, or on top, of the harbor. |
