The Arkansas River is a major tributary of the Mississippi River and the sixth longest river in the United States. Its source lies in the snowpack of the Colorado mountains and it empties directly into the Mississippi River. Ports on the river include Pueblo, Colorado; Wichita, Kansas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Little Rock Arkansas. The Colorado portion of the Arkansas River is known as a great spot for fly fishing and trout fishing.
