Now that the mammoth discs were known throughout the world, however, counterfeit supplies of less than magical meat began circulating, selling for high prices. Nearly impossible to tell from their legitimate counterparts in appearance, it became imperative for the owners of the meat to create processes to distinguish the real meat from the fake meat. 

Consequently, the English developed a method that would forever end the production of counterfeit meat. Three razor-blade straight black griddle marks were branded into each disc. No matter how hard they tried, counterfeiters could not produce the razor-blade straight griddle marks. Perhaps they could make one, maybe even two, but it was virtually impossible to forge three razor-blade straight griddle marks into the sausages covered in tiny bumps and warts.
