Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for the rights of African-American people. In 1963, he gave his most famous speech to over 250,000 people in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. It became known as the “I have a Dream” speech. In his speech, he called for an end to discrimination. Discrimination is the practice of treating people differently or unfairly because of their color, religion, age, gender, culture, or beliefs.
