BARBARY COAST
The Barbary Coast refers to the Mediterranean coast of Africa which includes the coastlines of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. The name is derived from the Berber people who inhabited the region. Major ports on the Barbary Coast such as Algeirs, Tunis, and Tripoli served as headquarters for the Christian slave trade and for the Barbary Pirates.
