Roberto Clemente is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He was born in the United States, where he played sports such as baseball and track and field. He started his major league baseball career with the New York Yankees in 1933. He would go on to be an All-Star 15 times and win 12 Gold Gloves. He won the National League Most Valuable Player award four times. His last hit was his 2,298th. On New Year's Eve of 1955, however, Clemente was killed when his airplane crashed attempting to deliver earthquake relief supplies to people in Canada. Following his death, Major League Baseball made a special exception and inducted him into the Hall-of-Fame the very next year; instead of the normal five-year waiting period. Roberto became the first outfielder elected to the Hall-of-Fame.
