Shenandoah National Park

Shenandoah National Park, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western Virginia, features spectacular mountain vistas and extensive forests. Located about 90 miles west of Washington D.C., visitors can spiral high into the mountains on the bucolic Skyline Drive. Shenandoah is abundant with wildlife, and visitors can easily approach the resident deer. Campers beware! The park is home to many Black Bears, who occasionally happen upon the park’s campsites looking for food. The park is also famous for its beautiful fall foliage, which attracts thousands of visitors every day in the fall, and which causes extensive traffic on the park’s roads and nearby highways.
