Pinnacles National Park, formerly Pinnacles National Monument, was established in 2013. The park features pinnacles, eroded rock formations leftover from an extinct volcano, which has gradually moved 150 miles from its original position on the San Andreas Fault to it current location in the Coast Range. The park also features unusual caves (called talus caves) home to 13 species of bats. Pinnacles National Park is also the site of a California Condor (highly endangered) re-establishment program and is home to 25 free-flying condors.
