Kobuk Valley National Park

 
 

Located some 25 miles north of the Arctic Circle, in northwestern Alaska, Kobuk Valley National Park is known for the Kobuk Sand Dunes and the great herd of 400,000 caribou that migrate through the area. The park is one of the least visited in the national park system. It offers no trails, and is only accessible by foot, dogsled, snowmobile or airplane.
