Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located in high in the Smoky Mountains on the Tennessee – North Carolina border, features breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding mountains and endless forests. The park attracts more than 9 million visitors every year, making it the most visited national park in North America. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the few places in which Black Bears persist in undisturbed habitat. There are over 1,500 bears that live within the park. Great Smoky Mountains National Park was dedicated by president Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940. It was the first national park to be created with federal money (rather than state or private money).
