Biscayne National Park

Biscayne National Park, located on the Alantic coast of southeastern Florida, features stunning mangrove shorelines, crystal clear waters, and a huge, living coral reef. The reef is part of the world’s third largest coral tract. Biscayne is unusual among national parks in that most of its 500,000 annual visitors arrive by boat. 95 percent of Biscayne is covered by water, making it the largest marine park in the United States. The park is an important habitat for Florida manatees, endangered sea turtles, wading and shore birds, as well as both crocodiles and alligators. In addition, the area was once a staging ground for some of the world’s most notorious pirates. Visitors can take a tour of the park’s numerous sunken sea wrecks.
