Badlands National Park

Located in southwestern South Dakota, Badlands National Park features 244,000 acres of buttes, pinnacles, and spires, as well as the largest mixed-grass prairie in the United States. Badlands National Parks also features Oligocene epoch fossil beds which date back as far as 35,000,000 years. Fossils from ancient rhinos, horses, and sabertooth tigers have been found within the park's boundaries. The park was the site of the reintroduction of the Black-Footed Ferret, the most endangered land animal in North America.
