Graceland was the Memphis home of legendary rock ‘n’ roll star Elvis Presley. "Elvis" was born on Janury 8, 1935, in a tiny home in Tupelo, Mississippi. When he was 13, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis, Elvis became influenced by the city’s jazz, country, and R&B music scenes. In 1954, at the age of 19, Elvis began his singing career. Just two years later, he would become a star known around the world. He recorded timeless classics such as "Hound Dog," "Don’t be Cruel," "All Shook Up," "Blue Suede Shoes," and many more. He starred in 33 movies and was famous for his rivoting live concerts. Today, Elvis remains one of the most beloved stars in American pop culture and is forever nicknamed simply "the King." He died in 1977. |
