Chimney Rock, located in western Nebraska, is a 300 foot geological formation that rises above the North Platte River valley. It looks like a giant rock that has a chimney attached to the top of it. It was an important landmarks to westward travelers along the Oregon, California, and Mormon Trails. Chimney Rock has been designated a National Historic Site. It is honored on the back of the Nebraska state quarter, as well as on its license plate. |
