Guatemala

Guatemala gained its independence from Spain in 1821. Panama

The Pacific Ocean was discovered off the coast of Panama in 1513 by Spanish explorer Vasco Nunez de Balboa. Following his discovery, he claimed the entire ocean for Spain.
