Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest boxers of all time. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he
the nickname the "Louisville Lip," because of the
things he's say about himself such as “I’m young, I’m pretty, I’m fast, and no one can beat me.” He wasn't always Muhammad Ali, however. He was
Cassius Clay, but changed his name in 1965 after
the Nation of Islam.
In his boxing career, Ali won a gold medal in the Olympics, was World Heavyweight Champion, and fought in some of the most
bouts in boxing
. In 1974, he defeated George Foreman in what would become known as "The Rumble in the Jungle," as it was fought in Africa. In 1975, he defeated Joe Frazier in the 14-round "Thrilla' in Manila." Overall, he
with a record of 56 wins and five losses. Of his 56 wins, 37 came
knockout.
