EZ Fractions is an amazing tool for students to use that simplifies the process of adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing fractions. It's perfect for students who have trouble with multi-step math problems that require precise calculations and conversions.

EZ Fractions for: Addition & Subtraction

To multiply fractions using EZ Fractions, simply multiply the numerators and the denominators and place the numbers in the fields provided next to the problem by cross-multiplying if the problem calls for it, or, by simply multiplying the numerators and the denominators. For students who have trouble cross-multiplying, the program provides a "cross-multiply" button that does this step automatically. For division problems, there is a reciprocal button that automatically converts the second fraction in the problem to its reciprocal.

Example of using the cross-multiplication button

When the fractions have been multiplied, place the answer in the final fraction field. Please note that the multiplied fractions will not result in a mixed number, but the "X" that stands for the whole number must be removed for the final answer, or else a message will be displayed indicating the answer is unclear or needs to be reduced (see below). Final answers must also be reduced. For students who have difficulty with this step, there is a reduction machine that will automatically reduce the fraction (when the fraction is typed into it.) The reduction machine will reduce the fraction, but will not always reduce the fractions to lowest terms. As a result, the user should click "simplify" until the the fraction no longer changes.

When the student is satisfied with their answer, he or she should click "next." If the answer is correct, a check mark will appear. An "X" indicates an incorrect answer.
