Ez Fractions

EZ Fractions is an amazing tool for students to use that simplifies the process of adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing fractions. It’s perfect for students who have trouble with multi-step math problems that require precise calculations and conversions.

EZ Fractions for:| Multiplication & Division

To add fractions using EZ Fractions, find the Least Common Denominator (which is the actually the Greatest Common Multiple) of the two fractions. Replace the "x’s" in the fields provided where the new denominators should be (see below)

For students who have trouble finding the least common denominator, the program provides a "FIND LCD" button that automatically inserts the least common denominator in the correct places. After the LCD is determined, the student must find the numerators (see below)

Note that the program alerts the student when a problem needs to be reduced or renamed. Finally, the student must add the two new fractions. In this case, the answer is 7 19/12. The resulting answer must then be renamed. For students who have difficulty with this step, the program provides a "rename" button that automatically renames the fractions. The answer should replaces the "x’s" in the fields for the final answer (see below).

Note that a fraction cannot be renamed until it is typed into the final answer fields. Final answers must be reduced. Students who have difficulty with this step can use the "reduction machine" that automatically reduces the fraction. Note that fractions are not always reduced to their lowest terms upon a single click of the "simplify" button. Students should click "simplify" until the "simplify" button no longer reduces the fraction. When the student is satisfied with their answer, he or she should click "next." If the answer is correct, a check mark will appear. An "X" indicates an incorrect answer.
