Woods won the Optimist International Junior tournament six times at ages 8, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 15, and entered his first PGA tournament at age 16. In 1994, Woods enrolled at Stanford University and won ten college events in two years. Woods soon became a professional golfer and began to win time after time. In 1997, Woods won four PGA Tour events including the Masters in Augusta, GA. At age 21, Woods became the youngest person to ever achieve the number one ranking among golfers. In 1998, Woods won an amazing eight times on the PGA Tour, including the PGA Championship. Woods’ dominance of professional golf has continued to this day. He recently won his third green jacket (for winning the Masters) in 2005, and has already won all four Grand Slam Events (The U.S. Open, British Open, the Masters, and PGA Championship). He has been named PGA Golfer of the Year six times since 1997. Woods has established himself as arguably the most recognizable athlete in the world. He has established numerous multi-million dollar marketing deals with major corporations (such as Nike), and draws thousands of fans to golf events in which he is involved.
